•Understand the pathophysiology of common illnesses and injuries occurring in the
wilderness environment
•Manage common illnesses and injuries in an austere environment with limited
resources
•Identify and plan for special hazards in a variety of extreme environments
•Demonstrate basic competence in exotic travel and wilderness survival skills
•Demonstrate detailed documentation practices through completion of “SOAP notes”
•Demonstrate leadership and group management skills through scenario practice

You will not receive certification and will not pass this classif you miss more than one
day of "lecture". See the syllabus for a more detailed grading rubric.
Attendance, 1 CR: Pass or Fail, 3 total class days, mandatory. A single missed class
must be approved ahead of time. Class days: 14.2, 7.3, 18.4 from 0900 until
1730
