Learning objectives KEY QUESTIONS What is culturally sensitive and competent multicultural practice?
How is the quality of life of minorities reduced by various processes of structural
discrimination? Why do we need to develop different social work approaches for
different client groups? How do we become self-reflective and responsive practitioners
in working with minority groups?
Contents Multicultural Work develops professional skills in culturally sensitive and competent
multicultural practice based on anti-racist and anti-discriminatory approaches. It further
focuses on issues of domestic violence and minorities, European and Finnish
Immigration and integration policy, and structural discrimination and encourages
students to critically interrogate their own work within the framework of current social
work theory.
