0354 LEADERSHIP IN SECURITY AND RISK MANAGEMENT, 20 cr

Description:
The main objective of Leadership in security and risk management is to provide the student with competence in the
management of internal security operations. The student is able to develop various areas of internal security and
build new innovative operating models to support norm-based operations. The student’s competence is built on the
awareness of the internal security as a whole, understanding of the network structure and of the process-like
functions of threat scenarios in one’s own environment.

The student will be able to:

• tunnistaa sisäisen turvallisuuden kokonaisuuden, sisällön sekä tavoit-teet yhteiskunnan ja yksilön kannalta
• analysoida eri viranomaisten, kuntien, elinkeinoelämän ja kolmannen sektorin toimintaa sisäisen turvallisuuden
tavoitteiden toteutumisen kannalta
• tunnistaa ja hyödyntää eri toimijoiden osaamista ja resursseja paikallisessa turvallisuussuunnittelussa
• rakentaa paikallisen turvallisuussuunnitelman yhteistyössä eri sisäisen turvallisuuden toimijoiden kanssa
• kehittää oman organisaationsa toimintaa sisäisen turvallisuuden tavoitteiden saavuttamiseksi
• arvioida ja tunnistaa omaan toimialueeseensa liittyviä sisäisen turvallisuuden uhkia ja riskejä
• määritellä oman organisaationsa toimenpiteitä sisäisen turvallisuuden kokonaistavoitteiden saavuttamiseksi
• muodostaa kokonaiskäsityksen turvallisuusjohtamisen ja riskienhallinnan merkityksestä sisäisen turvallisuuden
sekä paikallisen turvallisuussuunnittelun johtamisen kannalta

0355 INNOVATIVE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES, 10 cr

Description:
The main objective of the theme of development and research is to provide the student with strong methodological
competence in the key development and research methods of internal security. Methodological competence
consists of methods of futures studies, case studies, and methods of innovative development methods.

The student will be able to:

• tutkivan kehittämisen lähestymistavat ja proaktiivisen organisaatioiden kehittämistoiminnan
• menetelmät joilla teoreettista tietoa sovelletaan käytäntöön
• hahmottaa tutkimuksen tekemisen ja tiedon hyödyntämisen kokonaisuuden
• keskeiset sisäisen turvallisuuden kehittämisen menetelmät
• tilanteen mukaisesti soveltaen käyttää eri menetelmiä omassa toimintaympäristössään eli pystyy tehokkaasti
hahmottamaan millaista tietoa tarvitaan ja millaisilla menetelmillä tarvittavaa tietoa saa
• jäsentää tiedon tarpeitaan, koota ja soveltaa tietoa toimintaympäristössään
• arvioida ja ohjata tiedonhankintaprosessia
• hahmottaa organisaationsa ja alansa kehittämisen tavoitteita ja valita kehittämisen kohteita
• toimia sosiaalisessa arvoverkostossa ja osaamista rikastavassa yhteisössä

Contents of the study unit:
The module of research includes the orientation into various research methods and managing them.


01154 Operational development project, 5 cr

Contents of the study unit:
The development projects are selected jointly with collaboration partners, which promotes the regional development
effect of the study programme.
The development assignment is implemented in accordance with Laurea’s LbD model (Learning by Developing).
The development assignment is completed during specialisation studies and it is submitted for evaluation in the
second to last face-to-face instruction session (6 November 2010). The development assignment must be related to
the subject area and have a real-life development target in a workplace.
The instructor in charge of the specialisation studies and the preassigned instructor provide mentoring on the first
day of each face-to-face period before the actual studies start. Mentoring requires advance appointments.
