B031 THESIS, 30 cr
Description:
The thesis of 30 cr. constitutes a core element of the Master's studies and the fifth theme of the degree programme.
The aim of the thesis is to develop and demonstrate the students’ ability to apply research data, to use selected
methods for analysing and solving workplace problems and to carry out demanding specialist tasks independently.
(Ministry of Education and Culture 2009: National Framework for Qualifications and Other Learning). The thesis
develops the market and is a project integrated into Laurea's research programmes on welfare and social
responsibility with the purpose of e.g. renewing and managing targeted work methods or generating new service
innovations. The subject of the thesis may arise from the student's work community or the development needs of the
public, private or third sector.
Students may link different assignments as part of the thesis. The subject of the thesis is approved according to
Laurea's research programmes on welfare and social responsibility. The subject of the development-targeted thesis
may arise from the development needs and analysis of citizens or the region, whereby workplace orientation takes
place through network cooperation. As a result, individual learning and the development of learning, the construction
of new knowledge and new operating models are coproduced within the project. In terms of the impact of the thesis,
the aim is for several theses to arise around a similar topic. This way, the students form an investigative and
productive development group.
Master's studies aim to support in-depth knowledge and competence development of students in gathering
development process data, data analysis, and evaluating and making use of the results. Thus, the thesis process
advances as a process research right from the start of the studies.
