Objective and content:
The student
- becomes familiar with the main pluralist and radical theoretical approaches which inform community work practice as well as with their ideological underpinnings
- becomes acquainted with the various models of community work and the areas of skill concentration
- understands the need for more community based social work practice and the achievement of community capability within the changing nature of Finnish and European society
- comprehends the role of multiprofessional work, volunteering, and the third sector in community work practice
- develops an awareness of the link between community and macro-society in how forces of social exclusion operate at the community level.
